Malaysia (Sabah)

A good retreat.

(This trip was in 2013)

Living in the city is kinda exhausting, so I was really happy to have the trip in Malaysian Borneo and to be close to nature once again. We spent a night in one of the hotel in Kota Kinabalu because we were waiting for my husband's good friend and his family to arrive later that day. Woke up really early the next day because we were driving to Sepilok, that's where our hotel was and where we stayed for the rest of the trip.

I was expecting a typical hotel but when we got there, I was happy and energized. The hotel was amazing, (Paganakan Dii Tropical Resort Sandakan) located in the middle of the jungle. There was no wifi in the rooms, which I loved. You had to go to the restaurant/reception area to get wifi. The foods are fresh, they go to the market everyday. The hotel rooms are like nipa hut (it is a type of stilt house). It was a unique and peaceful place. I loved waking up early in the morning and hearing all the birds singing, monkeys whooping, it seemed like the jungle was never silent. The wind was refreshing and the mist smelled so good. One of the best hotels I have ever been. They may not have the luxury of a gym, a spa or a pool but they have the luxury money can't buy, wilderness and nature.

We drove around and visited the Orangutan Sanctuary, met some monkeys and alike ;) Then we had dinner in one of the local market. Cheap and good food ;)

So the next day we went for a trek in Kinabalu Park Complex, which I really enjoyed. Being close to nature always brings happiness to my heart. I had a great time in Kota Kinabalu, the people are nice and the nature is amazing, oh did I mention I love the hotel? Oh yeah ;)

Singapore

The Lion City.

sunny

Welcome to the Lion's City, Singapore. I've been few times in Singapore in 2012 since my boyfriend then (now my husband) stayed there for a while, so I came to visit him often. I was wowed with their airport. I was impressed how organized, clean and very pleasant it is. I think If i will have a choice to get stuck in the airport, I would surely choose Changi Airport.

Getting around Singapore is not that hard, they have a good transport system, which makes your traveling around the city so much easier. The food is great with so much influence of Chinese, Malay and Indian. For a tiny Country like Singapore, I was impressed how clean and organized the Country is.

As far as people in general, Singaporeans are more friendly than Chinese . ;)

My overall experience in Singapore was good, but i find it too expensive to go out in a club and dine.
